Bad Night...

Updated: Sep 2, 2019

Let me tell ya something... having a rough night sleeping and having to wake up in the morning to take care of your children all day is not a walk in the park. Having a rough night due to pain is much worse! At least if you're just suffering from general insomnia you can usually lay in bed and rest while watching television or reading a book or playing on your phone or whatever it is that you do while you're awake at 4 a.m., not by choice. When you're awake all night because of pain, you cannot do the before mentioned rest while you're awake, you need to be comfortable to do that.

When you're husband is trying to sleep for work next to you, wow, um I feel so bad when I go through this because I cannot get comfortable to just lay still while he is resting and I feel like I wake him up. This is on top of him waking up a lot as it is. Last night was the worst it's been in awhile. My entire body feels swollen. My neck and back are usually the culprits to a lot of my pain, but last night it was my arms, hips, head and legs on top of it all. This morning when I woke up, I felt like my blood pressure was up as I felt really flushed and clammy. Sure it sounds like I'm starting a case of the flu, no I am not. This is 100 times the power of flu pain.

Taking Tylenol or Naproxen (or anything for that matter) does not help at all. I was even seeing pain management and given something stronger and it does not touch this pain. I don't take it anymore because it does not help and I don't want to be another statistic of pain medication. Heating pads only help so much and when it's 90 degrees outside it's hard to keep it on due to already being hot. Icing my neck and back helps a little but not really all that much. So what am I left to do, especially at 2 a.m., 4 a.m., 20 minutes before the alarm should be going off? Lay there in pain. Push through it. Hope for the best for the day. Pray my children can be calm and not start with each other. That's what my life consists of, pain and praying that I can get through it.
